The Spiritual Leadership & Hospitality Team for Pilgrimage to Italy 2016
Christopher McCauley is a spiritual teacher and writer, retreat leader, and host of international pilgrimages. He is the former Chair, Coordinating Council, Spiritual Directors International and is Executive Director Emeritus, Stillpoint: The Center for Christian Spirituality. Christopher is a contemplative follower of Jesus with a deep respect for the great spiritual wisdom traditions of the world. Christopher is a spiritual director, and provides both formation training and supervision of spiritual directors. He maintains a private spiritual direction practice in Pasadena, California. where he lives with his partner, Frank Ramirez. Christopher brings years of experience as a spiritual teacher and companion, using teaching, contemplation, and humor to assist seekers on the journey.
Kathleen McAlpin, RSM, Religious Sister of Mercy, is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Community Sisters of Mercy. As a woman religious, she had led retreats for more than twenty-five years in various parts of the world, including the US, Canada, and the Philippines. Kathleen holds a Doctor of Ministry from the Toronto School of Theology and a certificate of Spiritual Direction and Supervision from the Center for Religious Development in Cambridge, Mass. Kathleen provided leadership in the creation of spiritual direction programs at Neumann College in Aston, PA, Regis College in Toronto, and currently, is adjunct faculty at both Regis College, Toronto, Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and Neumann College, PA. McAlpin is the current Chair, Coordinating Counsel, Spiritual Directors International. Kathleen will assist Christopher with the spiritual care of our pilgrimage.
Frank Ramirez, who will assist with Hospitality, is a seasoned pilgrim with journeys to Italy, Turkey, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, and Greece. Recently retired from full time state government service, Frank is a member of the Vestry at All Saints Church, Pasadena, California and the Bishop Coadjutor Search Committee for the next Episcopal Bishop of Los Angeles. He brings his considerable gifts of planning, coordination and humor to assist with spiritual hospitality.
Anthony Coles, our principle pilgrimage guide and organizer, is based in London. He has organized pilgrimages and study tours to Rome, Assisi, Padua, Ravenna and Venice on a full time basis since 1988. Anthony has lived for the past forty years in lay Christian community in London. His guide portfolio includes pilgrimages Catholic and ecumenical retreats. Since 1980, Anthony has been the co-coordinator of Palazzola Holidays, the Venerable English College, Rome pilgrimage organization. Anthony brings great knowledge, vast experience, and much grace as he returns again to assist us on pilgrimage.
